Description
The Deep South takes you into the southern reaches of the Maldives, crossing the Equator to dive in Huvadhoo, Fuvahmulah, and Addu. This is a high-energy route, featuring dives in deep, current-swept channels where schools of sharks, rays, and large pelagic fish gather.
Huvadhoo offers adrenaline-pumping dives with reef hooks and, at night, the occasional visit from whale sharks near the stern of the boat. Fuvahmulah, an island rising from the ocean waters, is renowned for its diverse shark population, including tiger sharks. Addu adds a historical touch with the wreck of the British Loyalty and a cleaning station for manta rays north of the atoll.
It is recommended for experienced divers comfortable in currents. An intense and remote adventure, it is vastly different from diving the central atolls.
