Description
Tubbataha is one of the world's premier diving destinations and can only be visited via liveaboard for a short season. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this natural park in the heart of the Sulu Sea comprises the North Atoll, the South Atoll, and Jessie Beazley Reef, featuring vertical walls that drop to great depths and coral reefs in excellent condition.
The main attraction is the large pelagics: grey and white-tip sharks patrol the walls, mantas and eagle rays appear in the blue, and occasionally, hammerheads and whale sharks make an appearance. Additionally, there are turtles, Napoleon wrasse, schools of jacks, and barracudas, alongside opportunities for macro photography. The currents can be intense and variable, making this itinerary suitable for advanced divers with experience seeking large animal encounters in a remote and pristine environment.
