Description
The Revillagigedo archipelago, a UNESCO World Heritage site located about 250 miles south of Baja California, is one of the premier pelagic destinations in the Pacific and can only be accessed via liveaboard. Aboard the Rocío del Mar, divers dive for six days at San Benedicto, Socorro, and Roca Partida, three volcanic pinnacles that rise from deep waters.
Diving is conducted over pinnacles, walls, and rocky outcrops in open waters that can present currents and some wave action, with regular encounters with oceanic mantas at cleaning stations, schools of hammerhead sharks, dolphins, and various shark species. Depending on the season, whale sharks may appear, and between February and April, humpback whales can be heard singing underwater.
This is a challenging itinerary focused on large marine life, designed for divers comfortable in open water and currents, alternating intense diving days with long navigation passages.
