Sharks

Cocos Island is one of the last great oceanic frontiers on the planet, a volcanic enclave in the heart of the Pacific where diving revolves around large pelagics. Here, enormous schools of hammerhead sharks gather, alongside Galápagos sharks, tiger sharks, and silky sharks, patrolling the cleaning stations of their pinnacles and walls.

Throughout the journey, demanding dives characterized by currents unfold, featuring regular encounters with manta rays, eagle rays, whip rays, schools of jacks, dolphins, and, depending on the season, whale sharks. The richness of the national park, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, is complemented by endemic species such as the pink-lipped batfish.

This destination is reserved for experienced open-water divers looking for the thrill of immersing themselves in one of the environments with the highest density of sharks in the world, set in a remote location that retains its wild character intact.

Itinerary

transfer-and-crossing-to-the-island

Pick-up is conducted at hotels in the San José area and continues by road to Puntarenas, where guests board the Sea Hunter. From the port, the boat heads out to sea to cover the 32 to 36-hour journey that separates the mainland from Cocos Island. This initial voyage provides an opportunity to organize diving and photography equipment, familiarize oneself with the vessel, and relax before the first dives.
