Diving in El Vapor del Cobre (El Nalón):
El Vapor del Cobre, a steamship sunk in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War, lies about 35 meters deep off the coast of Cabo de Palos. This dive is suitable for experienced divers and offers a unique experience to explore a piece of maritime history.
The Wreck:
El Nalón rests in sailing position on a sandy bottom, with its structure relatively intact. You can explore the bow, stern, holds, and other remains of the ship. Marine life is abundant, with schools of fish, octopuses, moray eels, conger eels, and other species that have made the wreck their home.
The Dive:
The dive begins with a descent along the anchor line until reaching the deck of the ship. Visibility is usually good, but it is recommended to carry a flashlight to explore the interior of the wreck.
During the dive, you can tour the structure of the ship, admire the marine life, and feel the thrill of exploring a place full of history.
Considerations:
Certification: It is recommended to have an advanced diving certification or equivalent to do this dive due to the depth.
Experience: It is recommended to have experience in wreck diving to fully enjoy this dive.
Equipment: Make sure you have the proper equipment for wreck diving, including a flashlight, dive computer, and, if necessary, tanks with appropriate gas mixes.
