The Advanced Open Water Diver course is the next level after completing the Open Water Diver course. If you enjoyed the first course and want to continue to expand your knowledge of the diving world, you're in the right place. It is considered the most fun diving course of all, as you will complete various adventure dives and learn about the different branches of scuba diving.

The course is composed as follows; 2 compulsory specialities and 3 to choose from. Each of them will have a theoretical section and a practical part.

Nitrox

One of the main reasons to become a PADI Nitrox Diver is the ability to spend more time underwater. By diving with Nitrox, a gas mixture enriched with oxygen, you will be able to prolong your dives without compromising your safety. This is because by reducing the percentage of nitrogen in the mix, you reduce the risk of decompression. So, as a PADI Nitrox Diver, you'll have the opportunity to explore the fascinating underwater environments for longer and get the most out of every dive.

Mandatory:

Deep Dive: divers will make 1 open water dive to a depth of 30 metres (21 metres if 12-14 years old), including practical exercises.

Underwater Navigation: students will learn how to use the compass and orientate themselves underwater, plotting courses and controlling buoyancy.

The range is very wide and the offer of these dives will depend on the centre where they are to take place. A maximum of three should be chosen, but the most popular among divers are the following:

• Night dive

• Nitrox

• Buoyancy

• Search and Recovery

• Underwater photography

• Dry Suit

• Currents

• Propulsion vehicle (DPV)

• Surface marker buoy

Requirements

Previous experience: Open Water Diver

Minimum age: 12 years old

Practical details:

• 2 open water dives corresponding to the two compulsory adventure dives (Deep and Navigation).

• 3 adventure dives to choose from those provided by the corresponding dive centre (2 with Nitrox).

• Maximum depth in open water: 30 metres (21 metres if they are between 12 and 14 years old).
