The Egadi Islands archipelago is the largest marine protected area in Europe, which includes the most desired island by divers: Marettimo.
In the northwest corner of Sicily, set in the deep blue waters of the Mediterranean, lies Marettimo, the furthest and also the greenest and most mountainous island of the Ionian archipelago. Marettimo looks like a huge wedge of limestone rock emerging more than 650 metres above the surface of the sea, revealing high, massive cliffs descending steeply into the blue.

DAVIDE DI FRANCO
Born in Palermo, Sicily, he fell in love with the sea when he was just a child. He became interested in diving at a very young age, including freediving activities, and in 2005 he started his first diving course.
In 2006, thanks to his father, he attended a course to become an underwater archaeological photographer, which prompted him to apply to the University of Bologna, for the marine archaeology course and for the TOU (Technical Underwater Operator) course. Thanks to this course, he started working as a diver in Egypt, enjoying the possibility to combine his passion with his work. After working for a while, he decided to continue his studies, taking a break just to work in some underwater archaeological sites. She graduated after a few years and started her beautiful experience as a Diving Guide in San Vito Lo Capo (Trapani) in 2011. The following year, he discovered the amazing island of Marettimo, where he decided to stay. In 2013, he became Hyperbaric Technical Operator and the following year, PADI Instructor. DILETTA GIANNOLA
Sicilian artist connected to the people, her country and the sea. It was in Marettimo that she found the perfect link between these three elements.
In 2013 she became a Hyperbaric Technical Operator and, in love with diving, she obtained her first diving licences on the seabed of Marettimo.
A sort of wild card, who can work not only underwater but also on land, she also takes care of the wellbeing of clients through her anti-gravity yoga classes, hanging from the branches of the trees in the beautiful pine forest.

The sea.
1. Never hold your breath
Breathe deeply and slowly underwater. In addition to avoiding lung overexpansion issues, you will save air during your dive.
2. Always dive with a buddy
Always dive with a partner and make sure you stay close at all times.
3. Respect your limits
Always dive within the limits of your training. Train yourself before taking on new challenges.
4. Buoyancy
By maintaining good buoyancy control, you will increase your level of control, which will undoubtedly contribute to safer diving.
5. Pre-dive check
Before diving, check with your buddy: BCD, weights, straps, air, and final OK. This way, you can be sure you are ready to enter the water.
6. Keep learning
The more you practice your diving skills, the safer you will feel underwater. In courses like Rescue Diver, you can also learn rescue maneuvers to increase group safety.
