The sunken city
Discover the remains of the port of the ancient city of Epidaurus, now submerged under 2 meters of water. This protected archaeological site is suitable for snorkeling, but scuba diving is prohibited. The site is over 2,000 years old. You'll discover the foundations of sheds, a well, jars and doliums.
Departure is usually at 4.30pm, but times may change out of season.
All equipment is provided, and the boat trip lasts around 2 hours, departing from the port of Epidaurus.
This is a city sunk by the sea over 3,500 years ago, a large Mycenaean villa submerged during the terrible eruption of the Methana volcano, located opposite Palaia Epidavros, on the other side of the Saronic Gulf.
Ruins of brick walls and terraces can be found here. Most impressive are the remains of the large amphorae used to store olive oil. Just 20 meters from the edge of the Kalymnios beach, the water depth varies between 1.50 and 2 meters, allowing you to admire this magnificent and little-known spot with just a mask.
