The PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience allows you to safely explore the underwater world in just one day. We will teach you the basics of diving at one of our beaches, and our qualified PADI instructors will guide you on an exciting tour of the nearby island reefs.
The Experience
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater? If you want to find out but aren't ready to commit to a certification course, Discover Scuba Diving will let you try diving to see if you like it. You can try it either close to home or while you're on vacation.
Although it is not an official scuba certification, during the Discover Scuba Diving experience, you’ll learn how to use scuba equipment in shallow waters and get a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world.
The Fun Part
There’s nothing like breathing underwater for the first time. It may take a little getting used to – after all, humans aren’t designed for this – but after a few minutes of awe, most participants realize just how easy scuba diving really is. The biggest challenge instructors face in the Discover Scuba Diving program isn’t getting participants into the water, but coaxing them out once the program is over. The fun part? It’s all fun!
Additionally, you can earn credit! If your Discover Scuba Diving program includes an actual dive in open water, your experience may count toward the PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver certification, giving you a head start when you decide to go for full certification.
What You Will Learn
You will learn the basics of diving under the direct supervision of a PADI professional. One thing you’ll learn is that you really can breathe underwater, and whether you’re comfortable doing it or not. During the experience, you’ll:
Experience what it feels like to wear scuba equipment and how easy it is to move underwater with it.
Find out what it’s like to breathe underwater and learn whether you’re comfortable doing so.
Learn some basic skills and safety rules that will carry over to your full scuba certification course when you decide to take the next step.
Equipment You Will Use
All the equipment you’ll need is typically included in the Discover Scuba Diving experience. You’ll use basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, and fins, a buoyancy compensator that also carries your scuba tank, a scuba regulator for breathing, and instruments to monitor depth and air supply. You might also wear a wetsuit or a weight system, depending on where you take the Discover Scuba Diving program.
You will fill out a pamphlet with your instructor, which you can take home after the program.
