Diving Programs for Kids on the Gili Islands

Diving for kids in Gili Trawangan offers a fantastic aquatic experience for those too young for standard diving certification programs. It allows children aged 8 to breathe and practice skills underwater in a safe and fun environment, all under the supervision of our experienced instructors and dive masters.

Our Explorer programs are available for half-day, full-day, or even multiple days. The programs are designed for kids and their families. The whole family can participate in all activities, or kids can follow the Explorer programs while the rest of the family enjoys their own diving courses.

Scuba Explorer Program

The program begins with the Blue Oceans Explorer. This is a theoretical course where they will learn about the oceans, ecosystems, and conservation. The minimum age to participate in the Blue Ocean Explorer is 6 years.

Next, we will continue with the Snorkeling Explorer, where we will teach them about snorkeling equipment, skills, and play games to practice those skills in our pool. The minimum age for the Snorkeling Explorer is 6 years, and all kids must be able to swim 12 meters without any flotation devices before participating in water activities.

After completing the Blue Oceans Explorer and Snorkeling Explorer, we will move on to the Scuba Explorer. This is the part that most kids look forward to, but unfortunately, it has a minimum age requirement of 8 years. Here, they will learn about scuba equipment, the basics of diving, and we will practice the most important and fun skills, starting with simply breathing underwater in the pool.

Diving in the Pool at Manta Dive Gili Trawangan

After completing the full Snorkeling Explorer program (1 to 2 snorkeling pool sessions) and/or the Scuba Explorer program, which consists of 2 to 4 scuba pool sessions, kids can continue learning more and sign up for different experiences.

Some of the options include Ecology Explorer, Boat Explorer, Navigation Explorer, Night and Limited Visibility Explorer, Photo and Video Explorer, and Underwater Communication Explorer. Options that are only available after completing the Scuba Explorer program include Enriched Air Nitrox Explorer, Perfect Buoyancy Explorer, and Stress and Rescue Explorer.
