Double Dive in Cenotes (Dos Ojos and The Pit) with Medusas Dive

The Pit Cenote

The Pit is a cenote located in the ejido Jacinto Pat in the Xel - Ha area, which is in the Riviera Maya of Tulum, Quintana Roo.

The ancient Mayans had a deep respect for it because they believed it was the entrance to the underworld, as it is one of the most spectacular cenotes in the region.

It is a relatively young cenote, as its only entrance is a hole in the roof of the cavern with a diameter of approximately 10 metres.

In the depths of this cenote 2 human skeletons of 10 thousand years old have been found.

Its only entrance is a small hole in the roof through which steep wooden stairs lead down.

The hole is perfect for illuminating the crystalline blue waters of the cenote, but without reaching the bottom.

Once inside the water, the light coming through the roof becomes a light show that illuminates the most beautiful natural formations in the depths of El Pit.

Cenote Two Eyes

The Dos Ojos Park and Cenote is one of the most visited in the state of Quintana Roo, due to its more than 80 kilometres of length that are interconnected with other cenotes. Cenote Dos Ojos gives us a spectacular view, mainly from the interior of its caverns and crystalline waters. The depth of the cenote ranges from 8 to 10 metres, perfect for snorkelling and watching the fish swimming very close to you.

The adventure begins when you decide which route to take, as there are 3 routes to explore; eye one, eye two and finally the cave of the bats.

The first eye is mainly focused on specialised and certified cave divers, as to reach it, you have to pass through a series of flooded and completely dark caves. The second eye and the bat cave are connected and are open areas suitable for snorkelling or just swimming and enjoying the waters. In this area you will also get an adrenaline rush as to go from the second eye to the bat cave you will have to go through a narrow path underwater and without light, where you will require the use of torches and the advice of a knowledgeable guide.
