Mahahual / Costa Maya is part of the central section of the Mesoamerican reef, the second largest in the world, characterized by its abundant marine life and healthy coral colonies. Mahahual was originally a fishing village until 20 years ago when tourism began to develop in a unique model since the town is very small, its beaches many of them still virgin, excellent geographical characteristics, distanced from large cities and the natural environment they offer the opportunity to their reefs, jungles and beaches to preserve their ecosystems in ways that only in a few places can be seen and lived.

Faro Viejo

Groups of small colonies of corals in sections no more than 3 meters high, surrounded by sand where moderate to medium currents generally occur, known for its abundant marine life, coral health, large cover of invertebrate coral, different species of sponges and the opportunity to spot pelagic species such as the Nurse shark, eagle rays, among others.
