Cenotes are surface connections to underground bodies of water... Thousands of years ago, underwater caves began to collapse, opening gateways to the river system, creating sinkholes known as cenotes.

The word "Cenote" comes from the Mayan term "D’zonot," which refers to an underground cavity containing permanent water.

The Mayans considered cenotes as the entrance to their mythical and spiritual underworld, and they were also their only source of fresh water in the midst of the jungle.

On this tour, you will visit these incredible systems.

You will leave the dive center by car; passing through the dense Mayan jungle, you will reach the first cavern.

A detailed briefing from a specialized guide will explain the rules and procedures you must follow during the dive, along with the features of the structures decorating the cave walls.

Diving through this wonderland of stalactites, stalagmites, large caverns, and light shows guarantees a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

After a surface interval, during which you will have a light lunch and refreshments, you will enjoy a second, different cavern before returning to Playa del Carmen around 3:30 p.m.

Due to the excellent conditions, shallow depth, infinite visibility, spacious caverns, and no current, cenote dives are suitable for certified divers of all levels.
