The PIT CENOTE is a giant sinkhole deep in the jungle, an upstream branch of the Dos Ojos System. At 391 feet (119 meters), it is the deepest cenote in the state of Quintana Roo, and its crystal-clear waters offer unique landscapes.

Suitable for EXPERIENCED DIVERS, this tour offers 2 dives in two cenotes with very different morphological features.

The PIT is a deep cenote, where direct sunlight hitting the water’s surface creates spectacular light displays that make this cave unique.

The experience in the Pit is a multi-level dive that starts with a direct descent to around 30m/100ft, where the sun’s rays collide with a hydrogen sulfide cloud.

A quick look beneath this layer to search for fossils before progressively ascending in circles around the gigantic cylinder.

In the shallower area, you’ll see black lines on the walls showing the water level variations through the ice ages, and you’ll be able to admire a beautifully decorated ceiling with fine white formations.

A completely different scene is offered by the second dive in the Dos Ojos cenote.

A shallow cave (partially connected to external light), where you’ll dive between stalactites and stalagmites, observing geological structures and fossils, floating through the rain of light.
