Open Water Diver Course

The Open Water Diver course will provide you with the first recognised certification in the diving world. Upon completion of this course you will have the freedom to dive in any sea/ocean to a maximum depth of 18 metres without the need to be accompanied by an instructor.

This course consists of two phases; theory and practical. In the theory you will learn about the physiology of a diver, equipment components, diving safety laws, etc. After completing the theory, you will be able to apply this knowledge underwater in the practical part.

In the practical part you will apply the knowledge previously learnt in theory, where the student will dismantle and assemble the equipment, learn how each of its parts works, and learn how to resolve different situations underwater, always putting your safety and the protection of the marine environment as a priority.

This practice consists of a first part in the swimming pool, where the student will become familiar for the first time with the sensation of breathing underwater and will carry out some exercises. Once completed, you will go to the sea (open water) where you will do 4 dives of approximately 45 minutes where you will start by reviewing the exercises previously practised in the pool and then you could go on an underwater walk.

Warning: after doing this course, you might very well start to feel a certain addiction for diving!

Requirements:

• Previous experience: not necessary

• Minimum age: 10 years

Details:

• Registration: You will be provided with the Open Water manual to read the first 3 chapters of 5.

• Day 1: Review of theory, quizzes, equipment and pool training (finish reading the last chapters for the next day).

• Day 2: 2 boat dives where we will practice the skills learnt on shallow reefs from 9 to 12m deep.

• Day 3: 2 fun boat dives to 18m. Final exam.
