Nitrox Specialty Course

Do you want to stay longer at the bottom without going into decompression? Do you want to feel less tired on your dive?

Then you need the Nitrox Diving Specialty. This enriched air course will allow you to stay longer at the bottom without going into decompression. In successive dives, it will shorten your surface intervals, to offer you more time without going into decompression again in the dive. It will allow you to stay down longer and get back in the water sooner.

Diving with Nitrox is becoming an increasingly common practice, it is not for all dives but you can make optimal use of it. Sometimes you can do a dive with Nitrox to feel less tired, or to be able to have more bottom time, or simply for safety, so you saturate your tissues less with nitrogen. Once you get the certification you can dive with Nitrox up to 40% oxygen anywhere in the world.

Note: Keep in mind that diving with Nitrox is one of the specialties to choose from in the Advanced Open Water Diver course.

What does the Nitrox Diving Specialty consist of?

It consists of a theoretical part and a practical part.

• Theoretical part: To complete the theoretical part, we will give you the Nitrox Diver manual and after reading it, you will complete the simple knowledge review that appears at the end of it. In the classroom, they will correct it by resolving all your possible doubts.

• Practical part: You will do 2 dives in which you will practice:

  • Techniques to spend more time diving using enriched air NITROX.

  • Considerations about enriched air, including managing oxygen exposure, how to analyze the gas in your scuba tank, and how to configure your dive computer.

  • A dive with two computers, one in NITROX 32 service and the other in AIR service. By comparing no-decompression times, you will realize the reality and importance of diving with NITROX.

• What do I have to bring to do the Nitrox Diving Specialty?

We recommend you bring a swimsuit and towel, and if you tend to get seasick when traveling by car or boat, we also recommend you take some motion sickness pills.

• What is the maximum depth we will go to?

The maximum depth in the Nitrox Diving Specialty is 18 meters.
