Double Dive Cenotes (Zapote and Maravilla) with Scuba Alux

CENOTE ZAPOTE

Cenote Zapote, named after the zapotes that grow in the vicinity, is located 20 km west of Puerto Morelos on the "Ruta de los Cenotes". This old road connects Puerto Morelos with Valladolid. From the road junction, you reach an adventurous trail of about 5 km through the jungle. Ecoparque Zapote offers a small car park next to the water, with hammocks and a nice space to set up your equipment. Despite being in the middle of the jungle, comfortable showers and probably the most beautiful and biggest dives in all of Mexico await us.

CENOTE MARAVILLA

Cenote Maravilla is a quiet gem of the cenote diving scene in Playa del Carmen. If you're a fan of the moments when light penetrates the water from the hollows at the top of the cavern, then Cenote Maravilla is for you. When the sun is up, it casts a huge beam of blue-green light that penetrates to the bottom through the hole in the ceiling of the cavern.

This intriguing and private cenote is known as much for its bell-shaped stalactites as for the thickness of the hydrogen sulphide cloud in it. Together, these visual effects make for some incredible photo and video opportunities if you have the right equipment. If you don't, a dive under its waters will make for a memory that will be hard to forget. Even experienced cave divers will find it sufficiently out of the norm to make it worth a visit. "Fascinating" is a word that has become associated with Cenote Maravilla - and for good reason!
