Advanced Open Water

Once you've earned your Open Water Diver certification, you'll likely want to learn more. The Advanced Open Water Diver program offers you the opportunity to explore new environments and increase your diving skills. This course is recommended once you are certified in the basic course.

You will plan your learning schedule with your instructor, choosing from a long list of Adventure Dives. There are two mandatory dives – Deep and Underwater Navigation – and you will choose the other three to make a total of five dives.

During the Deep Adventure Dive, you'll learn how to plan dives that deal with the physiological effects and challenges of diving at greater depths. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive hones your navigation skills with a compass and helps you navigate better using kick cycles, visual references, and time.

The other knowledge and skills you acquire will vary based on your interests and the adventures you choose – such as photography, buoyancy control, fish identification, wreck diving, and many more.

You can earn academic credits for the Advanced Open Water Diver course.

Also, if you join one of the scheduled trips by Aquausb, your dives will be counted as part of your Advanced Diver certification.

NOTE: When purchasing the Advanced GoPro package, it includes the eLearning study materials, knowledge review, and the (5) open water dives at our Bahia Solano - Choco station.

As an advanced diver, you will frequently dive to depths of 30 to 40 meters (100 to 140 feet). Remember, you must have a minimum surface interval of at least 18 hours before taking a flight or ascending to altitudes higher than 300 meters.
